The Story
Last month I posted a note asking poets to suggest topics they would like me to write about. Ten commented on the ones they felt that meant the most to them, whether from past experiences or things they strongly believe in. This is the first part.
The Poets
: Softness after pain, healing with responsibility, conversation with ourselves, home in unexpected places
: Grief that echoes across timeliness, silence between stars, memory as gravity
: Slowing down in kitchen bathed in golden light, savoring the present
Thank you for all your insights! 🙏 These words are made just for you.
The Poems
A Handful of Bandages
There is a touch in the air
a soft brush upon my skin
A memory of despair
now kept in a box within
It lifts my body gently
and opens up my palm
A handful of bandages
all patched up with the calm
I speak to my soul with kindness
and feel a comfort has grown
All I needed was inner strength
to build my heart a home.
Stuck in the Lightyears
I stand with a compass
Searching where to go
But under this bright moon
I can't find my way
my strength
dug in the ground
My only path is above
And I feel my weight among the stars
Just in the dark
squeezing every tiny glow
to make a sound
Whisper
They try to call on me
But I'm stuck in the light-years
With your memory
Food for Time
The one space that I call mine
The scent of flavors of food for time
A minute just to sharpen knives
An hour from our busy lives
The warmness of the golden light
brings passion into every bite
A room of tranquility by design
I slow the clock and sip my wine.
